Recreational Fishing in the Mediterranean: New Mandatory Rules

From 10 January 2026, the regulation of recreational fishing in the Mediterranean will change. New mandatory rules will apply to all recreational fishers aged 16 and over, regardless of the species targeted.
As of 10 January 2026, new regulations will apply to recreational sea fishing in the Mediterranean, regardless of the species targeted.
Key points to remember:

Mandatory registration for all recreational fishers aged 16 and over.

Same-day catch reporting for sensitive species via the official RecFishing mobile app (free of charge).

Failure to register or report catches may result in a fine, in accordance with current regulations.
