CALYPSO – GENESIS Exhibition

Under the patronage of the City of Antibes Juan-les-Pins, and led by Johann Naldi together with Stéphane Gamelin, author of the book Le Premier Plongeur, the CALYPSO – GENESIS exhibition comes to port Vauban from 18 May to 24 June 2026 to retrace the birth of a maritime legend.
Through a selection of rare archival photographs, historical documents and unpublished material surrounding Frédéric Dumas, one of Cousteau’s closest companions, the exhibition retraces the early days of this scientific and human adventure born in Antibes.
The exhibition also highlights the role played by port Vauban and Antibes’ craftsmen in transforming the former vessel into an ocean exploration ship. A way to rediscover an important part of the local maritime heritage and the story of a boat that became iconic around the world.
