New Biohut® modules installed at Port Vauban

6 March 2026

As part of its environmental initiatives, Port Vauban continues to deploy ecological solutions aimed at enhancing marine biodiversity within the harbour.

Last week, the company Ecocean reinstalled 52 new Biohut® modules in the Port Vauban harbour basin. This initiative is part of a long-term project running until 2030, carried out in partnership with the Rhône Méditerranée Corse Water Agency.

Each Biohut® is a metal structure filled with recycled oyster shells. These modules provide shelter from predators, support for local marine fauna and flora, and a favourable habitat for juvenile fish.

These installations aim to contribute to the restoration of marine biodiversity and to the preservation of local species within the port.
